
WELLBEING SUPPORT OFFICERS
Core Responsibilities of RSL WSOs:
Support & Referral: Listen to veterans’ needs and refer them to appropriate services, such as mental health counselling, housing providers, and employment pathways.
Case Coordination: Act as a link between veterans and specialised services, including addiction recovery and rehabilitation.
Welfare Visits: Conduct visits to veterans at home, in hospitals, or in aged-care facilities.
Funeral Support: Provide Eulogy/Service Certificate, Ode and poppy Service
Social & Family Support: Organise social, sporting, and family activities to encourage connection, and support veterans’ families in times of bereavement.
Crisis Support: Help identify veterans in crisis and facilitate immediate support.

ADVOCACY
Key functions of RSL advocates include:
Claims and Appeals: Assisting with lodging DVA claims for injuries, illnesses, or rehabilitation, and appealing rejected claims through the VRB.
Support & Advocacy: Offering advice, preparing documentation, and representing veterans throughout the entire process.
Wellbeing Support: Connecting veterans with health services, housing support, rehabilitation, and legal/financial guidance.
Transition Support: Providing resources for members transitioning from military to civilian life.
RSL advocates are accredited through the Advocacy Training and Development Program (ATDP) and are available to help veterans understand their entitlements.
